Cesane Forest
This E-bike circuit will take us from our home through the Cesane forest, rich in wildlife and well known for its network of endless dirt roads and trails.
We’ll then descend to the Metauro River and reach the Furlo Gorge, a deep canyon with a lake filling the bottom.
A couple of golden eagles have their nest at the top of the cliff and can be seen with a pair of binoculars.
This is also a Regional Natural Park and the little asphalt road which cross it the Flaminian Way built by the Romans 2000 years ago to connect Rome to Rimini on the Adriatic coast. A couple of road tunnels dating back AD 79 are still used by vehicles today.
Once at the end of the canyon we will the turn our bikes and climb to the top of the Pietralata Mountain where a herd of horses grazes with Urbino in full view.
From here we’ll make our way home.
