HORSE TREKKING
HORSE RIDING
The Apennine Range of Central Italy is a beautiful playground for our trips. The Range is the backbone of Italy and offers a myriad of paths and trails which crisscross mountains and hills offering a never ending network to travel around in the best way possible, the horseback!
We explore our area to offer the best mix of natural beauty, art , history and good food. There is no better way to travel across a country, from fort to fort, village and abbeys and hermitages.
We are always welcome to stay for a chat and drink a glass of wine with the locals who make up for their lack of english with the famous Italian skill of making themselves understood in a way or the other….
OUR TOURS
Furlo Natural Reserve
Duration: 1 Day - 6 h
Distance: 35 km
Difficulty: Easy
One day horseback riding inside the amazing Nature Reserve of Furlo.
The territory is made of different kinds of landscapes: some almost desert lands, conifer woods, maquis and the height meadows where we often can see horses in a wild state.
Totally amazing is the arrival at the “Testa del Duce” it’s a sort of Fascism building on the highest spot of Mount Pietralata) where we usually have lunch; from here it’s possible to enjoy a wonderful Gorge view!
Mount Montiego
Duration: 2 Days - 11 h
Distance: 65 km
Difficulty: Intermediate
TWO DAYS Ring circuit in the Apennines, crossing the hills of our territory.
A small ring circuit dedicated to the achievement of the Marchigiano Apennines through the hills of our territory. The first day we reach the slopes of the Appenino along the
Fosso della Vena up to the charming village of Bacciardi. We will stop for dinner and overnight in a really unique place. The second day includes the crossing of the Fosso dell’Eremo and the evocative fords of its stream, to then go up to Monte di Montiego and finally arrive at Ca ‘Maddalena. Mount Montiego is one of the first hills of the Apennines, characterized as all the others by a series of paths with beautiful views of the Candigliano gorge that separates the Montiego massif from that of the Nerone. Gorge that can be admired in an impressive way by the Balza della Penna an imposing rocky spur about 200 meters high, paths that lead most of the time in the summit of the mountain characterized by immense prairies.
Massif of Nerone
Duration: 3 Days - 17 h
Distance: 90 km
Difficulty: Intermediate
Three days horseback trek, discovering Monte Nerone.
First day we will reach, crossing the "Fosso della Vena", the eastern side of the Apennines up to the picturesque village of Bacciardi, dinner and overnight at a Farmhouse.
Second day to discover the massif of Nerone. Together we will cross the prairies where the wild horses graze and going along the panoramic ridges we will reach the village of Pianello di Cagli, famous for its craft saddles; the return to Bacciardi is scheduled for the afternoon. The last day, passing through the paths and woods of Monte Montiego and the beautiful hills of Montefeltro, we will return to Ca’ Maddalena along the Fosso del’Eremo. It is always the ridges (which on clear days allow us to cast our gaze up to the Sibillini or even to Gran Sasso) the grasslands (especially in the Montagnola side where hundreds of horses graze free) and the ditches (in spring they are very rich of flowing water) to characterize this trek.
Mount Catria
Duration: 5 Days - 30 h
Distance: 140 km
Difficulty: Intermediate
Five days horseback tour around Catria and Acuto mountains.
Five-days for a full-immersion experience in the heart of the Apennines, discovering hills, mountains and rivers. A slow, invigorating itinerary during which tiny villages,
hamlets and monasteries will be able to tell us the millennial history of a beautiful and authentic territory, although not very well known. This trekking has been also conceived for the hottest months of summer, so we will try to grant to our guests a daily stop along the river, to face the heat and to refresh. The first day ride among the beautiful hills of the Montefeltro area, night in a tent inside a campsite. The second day in the morning we will reach the wonderful Fonte Avellana monastery and then we will go up to the characteristic top of Monte Catria, with its beautiful meadows, night in a tent inside a base camp or in a shelter.
The third day will reach the massif of Monte Catria and Acuto, with its wild horses and beech woods. Same day we get to the flat top of Monte Petrano for a starry night, night in a tent aside a base camp.
The following day we will cross the “Wood of Tecchie” up to Pianello di Cagli, famous for its craft saddles. After the stop we will climb the Monte Nerone massif until reach the Slowcanda in the wonderful village of Bacciardi, where we will have dinner and where we will spend the last night.

For the more adventurous we also organize a spectacular 6 days riding trip down the Apennine ridge all the way to the Sibilline National Park, at the southern border of the Marche at Castelluccio village, our final destination.
